Spring has sprung, the grass has ris', does anybody know what time it is? Spring football is the answer. In Texas they say there are two sports...football and spring football. I kind of have Texan in my blood. The UNC Bears returned to the practice field this afternoon following three months of grueling weight training and conditioning. Starting Quarterback Peter Costelli has recovered from injury and will lead the offense. One of the plays of the day was Costelli hitting Carver Cheeks in the endzone for what appeared to be a touchdown. The defensive backs would disagree. Cheeks looks stronger and bigger after making a dramatic switch to receiver from safety a month into the season last year. His brother Cash is now at UTEP. 3rd year Head Coach Ed Lamb discusses having to practice a few days before contact begins. Great to see all the smiling faces of friends on the coaching staff and the young men who leave it all on the field because the love the game. Hold on tight, here we go!
UPDATE: Winter conditioning and spring football can sometimes be a grind so Carson Keach had a little fun last week following an interception. The sophomore from Ponderosa HS in Parker, CO executed his best cartwheel downfield after picking off a pass. Two more weeks of spring football remain for the UNC Bears.

UPDATE: Redshirt Jr. Rocco Traore enters his fourth season with the UNC Bears football program. However, this is his first month playing running back at the college level. He was a great running back in high school in the Seattle area but was more valuable as a defensive back in Greeley the past three years. He's seen a lot during his time with the Bears including teammates leaving like Carver Cheeks and Noah Mangham did last week. Rocco takes it all in stride.

Good Morning: Happy Easter! One of the spiritual leaders on the UNC Bears team is R-Jr. LB Jordan Davis (32) who always has a smile on his face and puts team first. He was a star at Cherokee Trail HS in Aurora and his dad played running back at Kansas with the Jayhawks in the late 90s. Davis is one of those guys you have to have in order to enjoy success in college football.
