As the Bears prepare for Cal Poly this Saturday at Nottingham in week 5, three quarterbacks are prepared to play or start. The only one who hasn't played this season is freshman Kaiden Box (Skyline HS, Longmont, CO). He brings a different skill set to the field than Jonah Chong and Kia'i Keone. Box would be considered more of a pocket passer even though Chong and Keone can deliver from there as well. Both Chong and Keone are more mobile quarterbacks who work well out of the pocket and are dangerous runners. Keone ran the ball very well at times last weekend on option runs. He came off the bench to try and spark the offense at Stephen F Austin and rushed for 61 yards. Here's coach Lamb discussing opportunities for all three.
UPDATE: Winter conditioning and spring football can sometimes be a grind so Carson Keach had a little fun last week following an interception. The sophomore from Ponderosa HS in Parker, CO executed his best cartwheel downfield after picking off a pass. Two more weeks of spring football remain for the UNC Bears.

UPDATE: Redshirt Jr. Rocco Traore enters his fourth season with the UNC Bears football program. However, this is his first month playing running back at the college level. He was a great running back in high school in the Seattle area but was more valuable as a defensive back in Greeley the past three years. He's seen a lot during his time with the Bears including teammates leaving like Carver Cheeks and Noah Mangham did last week. Rocco takes it all in stride.

Good Morning: Happy Easter! One of the spiritual leaders on the UNC Bears team is R-Jr. LB Jordan Davis (32) who always has a smile on his face and puts team first. He was a star at Cherokee Trail HS in Aurora and his dad played running back at Kansas with the Jayhawks in the late 90s. Davis is one of those guys you have to have in order to enjoy success in college football.
